Sculptie Inspiration - Furoshiki

Domino Marama's picture

Thinking of making sculptie gifts this Christmas? Don't forget the wrapping..

Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that has many uses. Looks a lot like a planar sculptie to me Wink

Looks very nice Manny. If it

Looks very nice Manny. If it is all one prim, how does it hold up with LOD?

hey gryff

Thanks, I have done some progress on the model it's now 2 prims, added more little things to it, final version will be 3-4 primitives in-world.

LOD, well... it will behave like any other sculpty modeled using this technique, though, LOD can be improved a little keeping center:

Blue sculpty: I kept center / Pink sculpty: I didn't. And the default box primitive over there, so you can have an idea of the distance and sizes. (viewer set to defaut Render Volume LOD Factor, obviously)

By the way, did you try the scripts I mentioned you in one of your previous comments? The picnic table sitting script set, it allows more than 1 avatar to sit on a single primitive/sculpty.

oriental inspiration rendering

A couple hours ago I finished the set, I was going to model a spoon for it but asking around I figured the spoon is not traditional but a new tendency between young people. It's 3 primitives in-world, was thinking about 4 primitives for it, so maybe, up the inspiration, I model some addon for it. And finally will dedicate it some time for the texturing task.

Partial render: (the position of the items is not the traditional, I'll have to re-arrange them, later on)

Very impressive Manny

Looks excellent Manny. Very impressive. If you have it in world ... would love to see it.

The reason I ask about LODs is because I've seen too much stuff that LODs badly. Most recently window frames that become, as a friend of mine puts it, "sculpty puke" at a very close distance. So to some extent I judge stuff by how well it degrades with LOD.

Yes I got that script and another one (also free) called nPose. Seems that nPose was developed for ppl into er ... slaves. But both work well. nPose has a bonus that it will rez an object ri go with the pose/animation. So, if it is a reading pose - you can rez a book which is derezzed when you stand up. (Obviously there will be avatar size problems though.)
